Susan Briscoe | The Book of Boro

A deep dive into the historic Japanese practice of Boro (translates as Rags); most often linked to mending using household scraps with the purpose of keeping clothing going for as long as possible. 

This book is full of projects, each designed by Briscoe to reflect a piece of boro textile art that she has found, photographed and tells the story of.

Susan Briscoe discovered boro for herslef whilst working in Japan as an English teacher in 1991. A textile enthusiast and collector, she teaches and creates using her personal collection as muse. She specialises in sashiko, kogin, patchwork and quilting.
